Weddings in Italy

Throughout Europe and the rest of the world, Italy is celebrated and appreciated for its art, its culture, its excellent food and its mild climate. As such, the country could be considered an ideal location for a wedding if you were considering doing so abroad.



Many visiting the country choose to get married by Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, which lies in the north between Lombardy, Trentino and Veneto. Many feel that the beauty of Italy seems to be captured there, and the location’s history and art go all the way back to the beginnings of civilization. There is a rich range of lake fauna, including rare specimens of fish, and flora ranging from typical mountain species to Mediterranean plants such as the olive, oleander, coastal pine and other vegetation which thrive in the mild climate.



Immersed in this lake and flora haven is the town of Torri del Benaco, with its picturesque castle rising above and dominating the lake front. Torri del Benaco has always been an area of vineyards and olive trees and together with fishing used to represent the only activity to live on, not only for the inhabitants of Torri but also for those living around the lake. Nowadays, the castle of Torri del Benaco is a museum dedicated to fishing. With the castle being in such picturesque surroundings, the castle is also a possible location for a wedding in Lake Garda.

The fishing village, rich in history, art, culture and traditions, is ideal for discovering flora and fauna, as well as an ideal spot for excursions and finding new places. Even the hamlet of Pai is very interesting, situated along the road which leads to Malcesine, and fortification ruins which were knocked down by Barbarossa are still kept. The other suburb of Albisano is located above Torri del Benaco, at 310 metres above sea level, in a position where you can see a very beautiful panorama - most of Lake Garda. This little suburb is home to a beautiful church where couples looking for a wedding in Italy can celebrate a Catholic ceremony.



Torri del Benaco is easy to reach, thanks to its geographic position. The vantage geographical position of Torri at the centre of the Lake Garda's Riviera degli Olivi, makes it not only a relaxing holiday spot but also an ideal starting-point for excursions to nearby places. A ferry service connects Torri to the western shore of the lake, giving visitors the chance explore the whole lake. The choice of cruises on the lake by stearner or hydrofoil is vast. The towns of art of Verona and Mantova are at an hour's drive by car (there is also a regular bus service to Verona); Venice and Bergamo can be easily accessed by train. Guided tours to the Dolomites are possible. The Sigurtà Garden (Valeggio) and the amusement parks of Gardaland (Castelnuovo), Caneva (Lazise) and the Auto-Safari Zoo (Pastrengo) are all quite near.
