Being asked to be a maid of honour or a best man at your friend's impending wedding can sometimes be a stressful and exhausting experience. Helping with the wedding plans, making a speech and generally being at the beck and call of the engaged couple can all take its toll. It's not all speech writing and dress fittings, one of the best things about being a maid of honour or a best man is organising a fun and unique last night of freedom for the stag or hen.
If you are the one charged with the responsibility of planning the stag or hen do for a friend it can be a great chance to show them how much they mean to you before they walk up the aisle. Making sure they enjoy themselves is easier said than done but there are a few things you can do to help you make this party go with a bang and send your friend into married life feeling loved and special.
Planning the night out sounds like a simple task, a few drinks, some naughty party games and a few L plates normally does the trick, but if you want to make this last night of freedom something your bride or groom will remember forever there are a few other things you should consider doing alongside the usual drinks and dancing. It's always a good idea to plan some form of activity, so your stag or hen can get the most out of their last day as a singleton.
You should always try and choose your activity with the stag or hen in mind, If you think a day of rock climbing sounds like great fun but the groom is scared of heights it's best to stay away, you should always find something that you know they will really enjoy. Use their own hobbies as inspiration and, if in doubt, ask their partner what they would recommend. Paint ball and go karting are always safe bets for the boys and a pampering day will be high on the hens wish list as she will want to look her best for the big day.
It's always nice to get away for a night with friends so if you and the group can afford it you could book a hotel or cottage so your experience can last a little longer. Try coming up with some fun games or treasure hunts to keep everyone entertained and in the party spirit. To make the evening really personal you could set up a few surprise
phone calls with the people who couldn't make it to the actual party. Getting friends and relatives to phone up the bride or groom to offer their congratulations is a small gesture but will make them feel great and will add a very special touch to their night.
It always pays to be organised so planning a few fun activities and surprises in advance with all help make sure their hen do or stag party is the truly best night of their single lives.
